Asklane Pilot Terms
Version 2.3 · 1 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between Asklane and your company for the Asklane pilot. The pilot is free for 30 days. After that, a paid plan starts automatically unless you cancel (section 10). The pilot is only open to businesses.
1. Who we are and who you are
1.1 We: Alexander Klimin, trading as Asklane, Roedernstr. 6B, 12623 Berlin, Germany. Email: alex@asklane.io ("Asklane", "we", "us").
1.2 You: the company named in the registration ("you", "the Vendor").
1.3 The person who registers accepts these terms on your behalf and confirms that they are authorised to do so. If they are not authorised, the statutory rules on acting without authority apply (section 179 of the German Civil Code, BGB).
1.4 Businesses only. The pilot is only for businesses (entrepreneurs within the meaning of section 14 BGB) that sell to other businesses. Consumers can't join.
2. What the pilot is
2.1 Asklane lets a business buyer's AI assistant (for example ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini) send you a verified inquiry, pre-filled with what the buyer already told the assistant. There are two routes:
- Inquiry link. The AI assistant gives the buyer a link to your Inquiry Page on asklane.io, with the inquiry already filled in. The buyer checks it and clicks Send. This route works today.
- Asklane app. The Asklane app for ChatGPT and Claude lets the buyer send the inquiry without leaving the chat. On the date of these terms, OpenAI has not yet approved the app.
2.2 Words used in these terms:
- Buyer: a person who sends you an inquiry through Asklane.
- Inquiry: a Buyer's message to you with the details the Buyer approved. Through your Inquiry Page, the Buyer sends it with a click, and we don't check the Buyer's email address before delivery. Through the Asklane app, we deliver an Inquiry only after the Buyer has confirmed their email address.
- Widget: the optional Asklane script you can add to your website with one script tag. It shows visitors who arrive from an AI assistant a short message with a line to copy back into their chat.
- AI Page: your page for AI assistants on asklane.io (asklane.io/v/[your name]), with the facts you approved and instructions for building a pre-filled inquiry link.
- Inquiry Page: your page on asklane.io (asklane.io/to/[your name]), where Buyers check a pre-filled inquiry and send it to you.
- Profile: the facts about your company that Asklane shows to Buyers and AI assistants.
- Listing: your place in Asklane, meaning the Asklane app for ChatGPT and Claude and the list of participating vendors on asklane.io.
- Website Pages: (a) a page for AI assistants on your domain (for example /for-ai-assistants), which points AI assistants to your Inquiry Page; (b) a short, visible pointer on your home page to the page for AI assistants. Your own forms stay as they are.
- Text form: email or another readable, lasting message (section 126b BGB).
3. How you join
3.1 The steps:
- On asklane.io/pilot, you answer a few short questions about your company, then fill in the registration form (name, work email, company, website) and choose your plan (Starter or Pro).
- Before you send the form, you can open these terms through the link next to the checkbox, and print or save them. You can check and correct every entry in the form.
- You tick the two boxes (you accept these terms, including the paid plan that starts automatically after the 30-day pilot unless you cancel; you are allowed to sign up your company) and click "Join the 30-day pilot". The form shows the prices, the dates and how to cancel right next to the boxes and the button.
- We send a confirmation link to the email address you entered. This email also confirms that we received your registration.
- The agreement starts when you confirm by opening the link (if the page asks you to, by clicking Confirm). The link is valid for 72 hours. If you don't confirm, no agreement is made, and we delete the registration after 7 days.
- After you confirm, we email you a copy of these terms and a summary of your plan: its prices, the steps in section 10.2, and how to cancel.
3.2 If you notice a mistake in your details after sending the form, don't confirm, or email us and we'll correct it.
3.3 We store the version of these terms that you accepted. It stays available at its own permanent web address, and we send you a copy whenever you ask.
3.4 These terms are available in English only. We have not signed up to any code of conduct.
4. What we do
4.1 Your Profile. We can prepare your Profile from your public website. The Profile stays private until you have checked it, corrected it and approved it.
4.2 Your Listing. After you approve your Profile, we add you to the list of participating vendors on asklane.io. Once the Asklane app is live in ChatGPT and Claude, we list you there too.
4.2a App submissions. To get the Asklane app approved and keep it available, we may include your Profile and Listing in our app submissions and review processes with AI platforms (for example OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity and Google). Their reviewers may send test inquiries to you through Asklane. We mark such inquiries as tests where we can, and deliver them like normal Inquiries.
4.3 Your Inquiry Page and Website Pages. We set up and run your Inquiry Page on asklane.io. We write the Website Pages for you and agree the setup with your web admin. You publish them, or you give us temporary access to publish them (section 5.4). Nothing goes live before you approve it.
4.3a Your Widget and AI Page. We set up and run your AI Page and, if you want it, your Widget. The Widget is delivered over HTTPS from asklane.io. It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your visitors' browsers, and doesn't read your page's content or what visitors type. It sends us only what section 7a of our privacy policy describes. Before we change what the Widget collects or where it sends data, we tell you in text form.
4.4 Delivery. We deliver every Inquiry for you to the email address or addresses you name. The email comes from "[Buyer's name] via Asklane", and your reply goes straight to the Buyer. If an Inquiry can't be delivered there, we contact you through the email address you registered with.
4.5 Support. You can reach us by email at alex@asklane.io.
4.6 30 days free. The pilot is free for 30 days, and we don't ask for payment details. After that, a paid plan starts automatically unless you cancel in time (section 10).
4.7 What the pilot does not include. Asklane is in a pilot phase, and we keep improving it. AI assistants are run by other companies (for example OpenAI, Anthropic and Google), and those companies decide how their assistants behave and whether and when they approve apps. The pilot therefore does not include a set number of Inquiries, a promise that an AI assistant will name you or offer your inquiry link, a date for the app's approval, or a set level of availability.
5. What you do
5.1 You give correct details when you register, and you keep the delivery email address up to date and monitored.
5.2 You check the Profile and the Website Pages we prepare, correct anything that is wrong, and tell us when facts change. You are responsible for the facts you approve.
5.3 You publish the approved Website Pages within a reasonable time, or you give us temporary access to do it.
5.4 Temporary access. If you give us access to your website or content management system:
- (a) you create a separate account for us with only the rights needed, and you remove that account when we're done;
- (b) we only make the changes you approved, keep the login details confidential, and tell you when we're finished;
- (c) you back up your website before the changes go live. You stay responsible for your website.
5.5 We don't check a Buyer's email address before an Inquiry from your Inquiry Page reaches you. Treat such an Inquiry like any other message from your website: if something looks wrong, check it before you rely on it.
5.6 You don't need to change your privacy policy for your Inquiry Page: we are responsible for the data on it until delivery (section 8.1).
5.6a If you use the Widget:
- (a) you add the Widget only with the script tag we give you, unchanged;
- (b) you add the text in the Annex (or equivalent wording) to your privacy policy before the Widget goes live;
- (c) if you use a consent tool (cookie banner) for visitors from the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you add "Asklane widget statistics" to it as a statistics purpose, and pass the visitor's choice to the Widget as we describe in the setup guide. Without that consent, the Widget still works for these visitors but sends us no statistics;
- (d) you remove the script tag when the pilot ends.
5.7 You handle Inquiries lawfully. You use a Buyer's data to answer the Buyer and for related business follow-up that the law allows. If a Buyer chose to keep their contact details private for now, you don't try to identify the Buyer by other means.
5.8 You only provide content you have the right to use, and no unlawful or misleading content.
5.9 You take part in one short feedback call a few weeks after your Website Pages go live.
6. Your content and our rights
6.1 You allow us, free of charge and for as long as the pilot runs, to use your company name, logo, website content and approved facts to create your Profile, to show it in your Listing and to write your Website Pages. This permission is non-exclusive and worldwide, because AI assistants are used worldwide. We pass your content to our service providers only as far as needed to run Asklane.
6.2 Except as set out in section 4.2a, we name you outside your Listing (for example as a founding partner on our website, in a case study or in sales material) only with your separate consent in text form.
6.3 You may use, change and keep the texts we write for your Website Pages, also after the pilot. This does not include Asklane's name and logo.
6.4 Asklane, including your Inquiry Page, your AI Page, the Widget and their code, stays ours. While the pilot runs, you may use the Widget unchanged on your own website. Your statutory rights under sections 69d and 69e of the German Copyright Act (UrhG) are not affected. We may change the Inquiry Page to fix errors, improve security or make it easier to use. Before we change what the Inquiry Page asks Buyers for, we tell you in text form.
6.5 We may use your feedback to improve Asklane. When we do, we don't name you.
7. Content rules and reports
7.1 The following is not allowed in a Profile: unlawful content, false or misleading claims, content that infringes the rights of others, and content unrelated to your business offer.
7.2 If a Profile breaks these rules, we can correct or hide the affected part, or pause your Listing. A person makes this decision, not an automated system. We tell you what we did and why. You can reply to alex@asklane.io and ask us to look at the decision again, and a person reviews it again.
7.3 Anyone can report illegal content in a Profile to alex@asklane.io. This address is also our point of contact for authorities and for users of our service under the EU Digital Services Act (Articles 11 and 12).
8. Data protection
8.1 Who is responsible for which data:
- (a) Your registration and contact data (for example the name, role and email address of the person who registers): we are the controller. Our privacy policy at asklane.io/privacy explains how we handle this data.
- (b) Inquiries sent through your Inquiry Page or the Asklane app: we are the controller until we deliver the Inquiry to you. After delivery, you are the controller of your copy.
- (c) The Widget (arrangement under Article 26 GDPR): for loading the Widget on your website and sending data from your visitors' browsers to us, you and we are joint controllers. For everything we do with that data after it reaches us, we alone are the controller. Between us:
- you inform your visitors in your privacy policy (section 5.6a(b)) and, where needed, obtain their consent through your consent tool (section 5.6a(c));
- we provide the Widget as described in section 4.3a, keep the data secure, apply the storage periods in section 8.4, and handle all requests from visitors about Widget data. If a visitor contacts you about it, you forward the request to us without delay;
- we publish the essence of this arrangement in section 7a of our privacy policy (Article 26(2) GDPR).
8.2 What we use Inquiries for. We use Inquiries only to deliver them to you, keep Asklane secure, see how the Inquiry Page is used so we can improve it, and, if you ask, report numbers about them to you. We don't sell Inquiries, we don't use them for advertising, and we don't use them to train AI models.
8.3 Our service providers.
- Vercel Inc. (USA): hosting of the website asklane.io, including your Inquiry Page.
- Cloudflare, Inc. (USA): hosting of the Asklane server, data storage, spam protection.
- Plus Five Five, Inc., trading as Resend (USA): sending emails. Emails are sent from Resend's EU region; Resend stores data in the USA.
All three providers are certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Their data processing agreements also include the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
8.4 How long we keep data.
- Inquiries through your Inquiry Page: deleted 90 days after delivery. Records of how the page was used, without names, email addresses or the content of Inquiries, are kept for 12 months.
- Widget: the daily codes we use for misuse protection are deleted after 24 hours. Widget events and load counts, which contain no identifiers or IP addresses, are kept for 12 months.
- Inquiries through the Asklane app that are never confirmed: deleted after 7 days. Confirmed ones: deleted 12 months after delivery.
- The record of your registration and your acceptance of these terms: kept while the pilot runs and afterwards until the end of the third calendar year after the pilot ends, so that both sides can prove the agreement (regular limitation period, sections 195 and 199 BGB).
9. Confidentiality and security
9.1 Both of us keep confidential any non-public information we receive from the other during the pilot, for example login details, unpublished plans and pilot results. This does not apply to information that is public, that the receiving side already had, or that must be disclosed by law. This duty continues for two years after the pilot ends. For login details and personal data, it continues without a time limit.
9.2 We protect data with appropriate technical and organisational measures (Article 32 GDPR), including encrypted connections, encrypted storage and access limited to Alexander Klimin through accounts protected by two-factor authentication.
10. The 30-day pilot and the paid plan that follows
10.1 Your plan. When you register, you choose Starter or Pro. Your plan's normal price is the price shown on asklane.io on the day you register. On the date of these terms, that is USD 99 per month for Starter and USD 449 per month for Pro. Prices are net; VAT is added where it applies. For Enterprise, we make a separate agreement.
10.2 The steps at a glance. Unless you cancel in time, your participation runs through these steps. Months are counted from the day your paid plan starts.
| Step | How long | Price per month | Can you cancel? |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Pilot | 30 days | free | Yes, at any time until the last day of the pilot. |
| 2. Founding-partner term | months 1 to 3 (fixed) | 80% off: USD 19.80 (Starter), USD 89.80 (Pro) | These 3 months, no. You can cancel step 3 until 14 days before the end of month 3. |
| 3. Main term | months 4 to 15 (fixed) | your normal price, locked | No, except for good cause. |
| 4. After that | month by month | your current price | Yes, to the end of any month. |
10.3 When the pilot starts and ends. The 30 days start on the day we email you that your Inquiry Page is live, and at the latest 30 days after the agreement starts (section 3). That email states the last day of your pilot and the day your paid plan starts.
10.4 The paid plan starts automatically. If you don't cancel by the end of the last day of the pilot, your paid plan starts the next day with the founding-partner term (step 2). If you don't cancel step 3 in time, the main term (step 3) follows after month 3, and then step 4.
10.5 Reminders. We email you:
- (a) 7 days before the pilot ends: the day your paid plan starts, its prices, and how to cancel;
- (b) 30 days before the end of month 3: the last day to cancel the main term, its price, and how to cancel.
10.6 No reminder, no lock-in. If we don't send reminder (a) on time, your pilot is extended free of charge until 7 days after we send it. If we don't send reminder (b) on time, the main term (step 3) doesn't start: after month 3, your plan continues month by month at your normal price (step 4).
10.7 Cancelling. A message in text form is enough, for example an email to alex@asklane.io. We confirm every cancellation in text form within 2 working days.
- If you cancel during the pilot, your participation ends on the day you cancel, and you pay nothing.
- If you cancel step 3 in time, your plan ends at the end of month 3.
- During the fixed terms (steps 2 and 3), neither you nor we can cancel with notice. The right of either side to cancel for good cause (section 314 BGB) is not affected.
10.8 Prices during the plan. We don't change your price during steps 2 and 3. In step 4, we can change it with at least 30 days' notice in text form, and you can cancel before the new price applies.
10.9 Invoices. We invoice each month in advance, starting with the first month of your paid plan. Invoices are due within 14 days by bank transfer; you don't need a card.
10.10 What your plan includes. Your plan includes what asklane.io/pricing shows for it on the day you register. If you regularly need more, we may suggest a bigger plan. Your plan only changes if you agree.
10.11 When your paid plan ends, your participation ends too, and section 12.3 applies.
11. Liability
11.1 Each of us is liable without limitation:
- (a) for intent and gross negligence;
- (b) for injury to life, body or health;
- (c) under a guarantee that was expressly given;
- (d) for fraudulently concealed defects;
- (e) under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz), and wherever else the law does not allow liability to be limited.
11.2 For slight negligence, each of us is liable only for breach of an essential obligation. An essential obligation is one that must be fulfilled for this agreement to be carried out properly at all, and that the other side regularly relies on. In that case, liability is limited to the damage that is typical and foreseeable for this kind of agreement.
11.3 Apart from sections 11.1 and 11.2, liability for slight negligence is excluded.
11.4 These rules also apply to the personal liability of each side's employees, representatives and the people it uses to carry out this agreement.
11.5 Liability towards data subjects under Article 82 GDPR is not affected.
12. Ending the pilot
12.1 The agreement starts when you confirm your registration (section 3). It runs through the steps in section 10 until it ends under section 10 or 12.2.
12.2 During the 30-day pilot, either side can end the agreement at any time, without giving a reason, by a message in text form. Once the paid plan has started, section 10 decides when and how it can be ended.
12.3 When the pilot ends:
- (a) we take your Listing and your Profile offline within 5 working days;
- (b) you remove the Website Pages and the Widget's script tag from your website. We switch off your Widget and your AI Page;
- (c) for 30 days after the end, we keep delivering Inquiries that still reach us, so that no Buyer is left without an answer. During that time your Inquiry Page stays online. After that, it shows Buyers a short message that points them to your usual contact options, instead of sending the Inquiry;
- (d) we delete Inquiry data as set out in section 8.4;
- (e) sections 6.3, 6.5, 8.4, 9, 11 and 14 continue to apply.
13. Changes to these terms
13.1 If we want to change these terms, we send you the new version in text form and ask you to accept it. The new version only applies if you accept it.
13.2 If you don't accept the new version, the current terms continue until you or we end the pilot.
13.3 A change can never add fees beyond those in section 10.
14. Final provisions
14.1 German law applies. The UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) does not apply.
14.2 If you have no general place of jurisdiction in Germany, the courts of Berlin, Germany, have exclusive jurisdiction for all disputes arising from or in connection with this agreement. Otherwise, the statutory rules on jurisdiction apply.
14.3 Notices, approvals and consents under these terms can be given in text form. Our address is alex@asklane.io. Yours is the email address you registered with, or another address you give us.
14.4 Individual agreements with you take precedence over these terms. These terms take precedence over the general Asklane Terms of Service where the two differ.
14.5 If a provision of these terms is invalid, the rest of these terms remains valid.

Asklane widget
Our website uses the Asklane widget, provided by Alexander Klimin, trading as Asklane, Roedernstr. 6B, 12623 Berlin, Germany. If you arrive on our website from an AI assistant (for example ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini or Copilot), the widget shows you a short message with a line you can copy back into your chat. It recognises this inside your browser, from the link you came with and the page you came from.
To load the widget, your browser connects to Asklane's server, which receives your IP address and our website's address. Asklane doesn't store your IP address. It uses a daily-changing code derived from it for misuse protection and deletes that code after 24 hours. The widget sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, and doesn't read our pages' content or anything you type. [If you use a consent tool: If you agree to "Asklane widget statistics" in our consent tool, the widget also sends Asklane events (for example, that the message was shown or copied, which AI assistant you came from, and the page path), which Asklane keeps for 12 months. They carry a random code created for each page view, which is also part of the line you copy. If you later send us an inquiry through Asklane, this code links the events to your inquiry.]
We and Asklane are joint controllers for loading the widget and sending this data (Art. 26 GDPR). Asklane is responsible for everything that happens with the data afterwards and handles requests about it; you can also contact us. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in helping visitors who come from an AI assistant to reach us) and, for the statistics, your consent (§ 25(1) TDDDG, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time in our consent tool. Details: asklane.io/privacy, section 7a.
