Terms of use

These terms apply when you use the website asklane.io and the Asklane app in ChatGPT and Claude. They are written for buyers and visitors.

Vendors: if your company takes part in the Asklane pilot, your agreement with us is the Asklane Pilot Terms. Where the Pilot Terms and these terms differ, the Pilot Terms apply to you.

1. Who we are

Asklane is run by Alexander Klimin, trading as Asklane, Roedernstr. 6B, 12623 Berlin, Germany ("we", "us"). Email: alex@asklane.io.

2. What Asklane does

Asklane lets you send an inquiry from your AI chat to a participating business (a "vendor"), and get answers from information the vendor has approved. Vendors are independent businesses. We are not a party to any agreement between you and a vendor, and we don't act for you or for the vendor.

3. Using Asklane

• Free. Using Asklane as a buyer is free. You don't need an account.
• Your OK comes first. Your assistant shows you the inquiry before it is sent, and sends it only with your OK. We deliver it to the vendor only after you have confirmed your email address.
• Only what's needed. Please don't include sensitive data (for example health data) or payment details in an inquiry.

4. Fair use

When you use Asklane, you agree:

• to send inquiries only in your own name, or for a company you work for, and only with an email address you control;
• not to send spam, mass inquiries or automated inquiries without a real interest;
• not to send unlawful content or content that infringes the rights of others;
• not to disrupt Asklane, get around its security or spam protection, or access it in ways it wasn't made for.

We can block inquiries or access that break these rules.

5. What we can't promise

• Replies. Whether and how a vendor replies is up to the vendor. We can't promise a reply, an offer or a particular outcome.
• Answers. Answers come from information the vendor approved. They are information, not an offer, and they may be incomplete or out of date. Please confirm anything important with the vendor directly.
• Availability. We work to keep Asklane available, but we can't promise that it always is. Asklane depends on ChatGPT, Claude and other services we don't control. We may change or end the free service at any time.

6. Content on this website

The texts, graphics and code on asklane.io are protected by copyright. You may view and use them for your own information. Any other use needs our consent.

7. Liability

7.1 We are liable without limitation:

• (a) for intent and gross negligence;
• (b) for injury to life, body or health;
• (c) under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz), and wherever else the law does not allow liability to be limited.

7.2 For slight negligence, we are liable only for breach of an essential obligation. An essential obligation is one that must be fulfilled for the service to work at all, and that you regularly rely on. In that case, our liability is limited to the damage that is typical and foreseeable for this kind of service.

7.3 Apart from sections 7.1 and 7.2, our liability for slight negligence is excluded. These rules also apply to the personal liability of the people we work with.

8. Privacy

How we handle personal data is explained in our privacy policy.

9. Changes

We may update these terms for the future, for example when Asklane changes. The version shown here when you use Asklane is the one that applies. An inquiry you have already sent stays under the terms that applied when you sent it.

10. Law

German law applies. If you use Asklane as a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
